Director James R. Petix is a metro Detroit native whose works include Tokyo Below: a Documentary of Independent Rock Music in Japan and music videos for the Soledad Brothers and the Come Ons.

After graduating from the Savannah College of Art and Design, James was inspired to move back to the area for the sole purpose of documenting the downtown scene. James has been shooting the film on nights and weekends over the last three years while working as a professional Avid editor in Detroit’s advertising industry. With over 200 hours of live footage and exclusive interviews, It Came From Detroit will be his first feature length film.

Sarah is the producer of the documentary. Being a newcomer to the medium, Sarah views the film as an artistic challenge and a way to gain new experiences while having fun.  Sarah adds strength, structure, and motivation to the project, assisting the director in all forms of production, business matters, and scheduling. She currently resides in Ferndale, Michigan with the director and their two cats.
